A reflection in images and text about migrating from my country of birth,
while Adapting to a new environment;
similar to a transplanted tree making roots in a new soil.

As a Canadian living in Indonesia, who married a Javanese woman, I often wonder where I belong. I started thinking of trees and how, when you transplant them, they start growing in their new environment. They adapt, but they also have a memory of where they come from.

As I was working on this new idea for an exhibition, I came across Ms. Elif Shafak 's book titled:
The Island of missing trees.
When I read the synopsis, I immediately knew that this book would inspire me for my new photo project.
